Immigration can be such a touchy subject. It is a buzz in politics no matter what side one is on. During an election year it is hard to weed through all of the news about candidates talking bad about each other and posturing for the top position in the polls. So much useless tasteless rhetoric is thrown around that an important topic could easily just be swept under the rug and forgotten.
The United States of America was founded by Immigrants. Essentially these immigrants would be considered “illegal” by today’s standards. There is an act of legislation that could potentially help millions of young people that have grown up and known nothing but the United States as their home to attain full citizenship. This is known as the “DREAM” act. As I see it there should be no reason to push a person away who wants to make a positive difference in the growth and development of themselves and for the country in which they live. If the DREAM act is passed young people who choose to advance their lives through a college education or by serving the United States of America in the military could gain full citizen status.
With all of the pandering, infighting, and general BS that goes on amongst the legislatures, this is one thing they need to come together on. Pass the DREAM act. Let those bright individuals who want progress and growth help out in their home land.

The internet has provided a wonderful opportunity for people the world over to create, publish, and share content with an almost infinite audience. It is possible for any one of us with access to this great tool to distribute our work to the masses where in the past only those with the deepest pockets could market media to the world. Sharing of links and content through the number of channels available to us is a vital key to the progress of this form of society. We can help each other grow by working together. Sharing is a good thing for the independent content creator as it generates exposure.
There is much talk of SOPA and PIPA, as certain members of the Federal Government look to impose sanctions and censorship upon the users of the internet. Many of the biggest names in the tech industry believe SOPA and PIPA will be incredibly detrimental to the progress that we have been working to create on the internet. Certain sites including Wikepedia and Reddit are going black in protest of this impending legislation. It is important that we try to understand as much of these acts as possible. Fight censorship!

So, I am stoked on Spotify. I am a relatively late comer to this phenomenon in the world of new media. However, there is a great majority out there that needs to discover Spotify also. In case you haven’t heard, head to their website and signup. Spotify is an application that plays music (free of charge to you) on your computer. You can sign up for a premium service to make it more portable and play music on android and ios devices. The free service makes for perfect soundtrack to your lifestyle. It is possible to search for nearly any artist or band in nearly any genre that interests you. It is free to you because Spotify displays visual ads within the application, and occasional audio ads between songs. It is also integrated into social media such as Facebook, also generating plenty of exposure for Spotify (exposure surely translates into $$). The January 16th 2012 issue of Forbes magazine displays the headline, Spotify’s Daniel Ek: The Most Important Man In Music, this must say something for the earnings of this new media music mogul. 
The man is not even 30 yet, and is making waves in the music and technology industries. Check out the Forbes article, it is a good read. If you like music, go check out Spotify, and get social with it. Share what you hear with your Facebook friends. As they say, “Spotify is all about sharing”. It is a good way to listen to the tracks you love, and discover new music along the way.
In the United States it is customary to tip for good service while dining. When traveling abroad this is not necessarily the case. I wouldn’t want to waste my money on someone who would be insulted by the gesture!
